Levi Thayer, son of Levi Thayer and Hannah Parkhurst, was born on May 19, 1782 in Milford, Worcester County, Massachusetts. His twin brother was Joel Thayer. He married three times: Betsy Leonard (1804), Clarissa Seldon (1818), and Susan Westcott (1834).
By 1820, Levi was living in Palmyra. He helped construct the Thayer and Grandin Brick Row. In that building, the Book of Mormon was published. On December 4, 1833, Levi signed the “Testimony of 51 Neighbors,” later printed in Mormonism Unvailed.[1] He was in the ashery and pork-packing business with his brother Joel Thayer. They also owned several buildings along the canal and ran several canal boats. The Smiths had dealings with the Thayer brothers.
In 1850, Levi was recorded as living in Buffalo with his family. He died on November 14, 1858.
