In June 1797 the first Methodist circuit rider came through Palmyra. Early followers of John Wesley met in a schoolhouse, barn, or grove until 1822, when they legally organized themselves into a society and built a church near the corner of Vienna and Johnson streets, just north of the cemetery. They worshiped here until 1847.
The Methodist Church was the last denomination to have a building on “God’s corner.” The address is 109 Church Street. The phone number is (315) 597-9172. The building was constructed in 1867.
