Charles W. Hurlbut (1807–1884)

Charles W. Hurlbut, son of John Hurlbut and Hannah Millet, was born on May 29, 1807 in Palmyra, Wayne County, New York. He was the brother of Doctor Philastus Hurlbut. He worked as a farmer in Palmyra.[1]

In 1795, Charles and his family moved to Palmyra.[2] Charles married Margaret Gregory on January 29, 1834 in Walworth, Wayne County, New York. To their union were born four children.

From 1862 to 1863, Charles was mentioned in the History of the Macedon Academy. From 1867 to 1868, The Gazeteer and Business Directory of Wayne County, New York listed Charles as a farmer in Macedon.[3]

Charles was listed in the 1870 US Federal Census as being sixty-two years old and residing in Macedon, New York. At the time, he was a farmer with a personal wealth of $1,800 and a real weath of $11,700. He died on January 26, 1882 in Macedon. He was buried in the Palmyra City Cemetery.
